On 26th March at Cowes Yacht Haven RedTIE theatre performed "What Are You Waiting For?" a piece devised and scripted by Rosie Rae and young people she has been working with. The piece highlighted the plight of children in situations where they rely on the intervention of adults to save them from harm or neglect, and aimed to encourage concerned adults to act, rather than wait for someone else to take charge.
This is the feedback from the event.
Dear Helen and all the Red Tie players!!
Where do I start to tell you how fabulous you all were on Friday. I wrote that piece as you know, on the back of the input from some locals teenagers who had been involved with services, then watched you rehearse is and so to be honest I thought I had become pretty hardened to the impact. How wrong could I be…. It was so beautifully performed and so very real that I was hugely moved by the acting and presentation – you were all awesome, some of the very subtle intonations and body language made such an impact and so WOW is all I can say!! Thank you!!
The feedback from the floor? Here are some examples;
Hugely moving, powerful.
Those Young people said all that needed to be said – amazing impact!
This brought it all home to me, I wont wait before acting
I could see children I have taught in school in those young actors
Thank you for reminding me what matters!
I have nothing left to say that could sum up what they said.
And more of the same… on every evaluation sheet!!
So please pass on out thanks to your brilliant talented group of actors, I know you are going to be flooded with requests at other events and we would absolutely love to work with you again (so save a space for me!!)
There is still the likelihood that we will look to turn our piece into a DVD so will be in touch.
Lets catch up soon as we agreed!
My huge thanks again
Rosie
